QUOTES:

Re-purposing Old Furniture:  Looking to make some room and organize my bedroom closet, I started to condense the clothes from an old, obtrusive wardrobe into my closet. I have a tiny old bungalow-type house. When I emptied the closet, my hubby started to break it apart for the trash. I had this brainstorm to take out the two drawers, which were like new. I put slider casters on the bottom of them and slid them under my bed! After my DH sawed off an inch, they fit perfectly, and my bed looks like a captain's bed. Now I have a place for my t-shirts and socks. It looks terrific, and no one would know they didn't belong to the bed! For free, I used something we already had and repurposed those drawers to accommodate my storage needs! We are always excited to save money by being creative and frugal. Quick Furniture Scratch Cover: An owner of a local furniture store taught me how to quickly and easily fix scratched furniture. Get a can of shoe polish that closely matches the color of the wood and use that to repair your scratches. It works great. Just rub the polish on like you would for a pair of shoes and lightly buff. The small scratches will become unnoticeable, and the deep scratches become much less noticeable. Nicole from Dollar Stretcher Tips

Extra Cash for Apartment Dwellers: I live in a large apartment complex. People are moving in and out every month. Near the end of the month, I watch for signs that someone is moving out. I drop by and ask if they have anything they're leaving behind or throwing away. If there's anything good, I ask if I can have it. Usually, they're happy to have me haul it away for them. Sometimes, I use the stuff to upgrade what I already have. At other times, I put it out on Craigslist. If that doesn't work, I post it on Freecycle (better than the dumpster). It's turned into a neat little side gig that doesn't take much time or effort. Josh from Dollar Stretcher Tips
