WATER SEWAGE GAS ELECTRIC TRASH & RECYCLING PHONE
“Utility is when you have one telephone, luxury is when you have two, opulence is when you have three - and paradise is when you have none.” Doug Larson quotes (English middle-distance runner who won gold medals at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, 1902-1981)
TIPS:
Pull out all your monthly bills (cable, phone, internet).
Find out if there are any services you no longer need or want and cancel
Check the website of each provider to see if they have any deals or discounts IE for new customers (they might give it to you too), or for signing for paperless billing
Now that you know the deals they have ask to speak to someone at the retention department not customer service. Tell customer service that you are thinking of canceling. The retention department is able to give you discounts in order to keep you happy and keep you as a customer.
Ask: Rising cost of living (inflation rises) has made it tough for us. I would like to cut my costs. What can you do to help me?
Write down the name , title and phone number of anyone you spoke with and what they say to you. Keep records.
Don't settle too soon: always ask... "Can you get me a better deal?" Show them that you check the website and tell them the deals they have there and if it is possible to get those deals.
Always be polite and friendly.... you know the saying about getting more using honey....
Once you get the deal you want ask for confirmation via email or text if possible.
Check your bill next month to see it went thru if not call and have them make corrections.
Usually these deals last only a year or two. You may have to call again before the deal expires to keep current deal or get a new one.
Call during normal business hours Monday thru Friday and you will have better luck getting someone live. Most people call after they come home from work or on weekends.

UTILITY BILLS:
Here are some ways to save on utilities:
Audit your home for energy leaks: Check for air leaks around windows and doors, and seal them with weatherstripping or caulk. Insulate your attic, walls, and floors to prevent heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer
Adjust your thermostat: Lowering your thermostat by 7-10 degrees for 8 hours a day can save up to 10% on your heating bill . You can also install a programmable thermostat that automatically adjusts the temperature when you’re asleep or away from home
Use energy-efficient appliances: Replace old appliances with new, energy-efficient models. Look for the ENERGY STAR label when shopping for appliances, which indicates that they meet energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Unplug electronics when not in use: Electronics that are plugged in but not in use still consume energy. Unplugging them when not in use can save up to $100 per year on your energy bill
Do budget billing: you will be charged the same amount of money for electricity, gas or water every month. Instead of getting a bill in the mail or email telling you that this month you’ll be paying far more than you did last month, every month in a row is the same.
